NOD Bursary Thank You by Alannah MacLean

The snow is beginning to fly, meaning that a new ski season is on the verge of beginning. First, the recipients of the Northern Ontario Distinct (NOD) Elite Athlete Bursary must be recognized for excellence in cross country skiing during the previous season.

Six of the awarded athletes are from the Walden Cross Country Fitness Club in Sudbury, Ontario; Victor Hopper, Emily Marcolini, Tanya Quesnel, Christine Henry, Isabelle MacLean and Alannah MacLean.

On behalf of all the Walden athletes, I would like to express our excitement and gratitude in the reception of the bursaries. Having NOD support its athletes is a fantastic initiative, and it will be greatly appreciated in the upcoming season to help out with training and racing costs.

I know that we have worked extremely hard on and off the ski trails to have the best year yet. We have spent many hours fundraising, helping out at the club, and assisting and participating in training sessions. We have fed off each other’s success to contribute to the overall team effort. From the amount of Walden athletes that are recipients of the Elite Athlete Bursary, it is clear that the ball is rolling for future development and improvement at the club-level.

Thank you, NOD, for providing us with the financial support we require. And thank you, Walden Cross Country Fitness Club, for making us the people we are today.
